Roles of the President
-Chief of State: The president is an inspirational symbol for the American people
-Chief Executive: Decides how the laws will be enforced and chooses officials and advisers to help him in the Executive Branch
-Chief Diplomat: Makes foreign policy for the United States and meets with leaders of other countries
-Commander in Chief: In charge of the Armed Forces
-Chief Legislator: Has the power to influence laws passed by Congress and can veto legislature that he does not favor
-Chief of Party: Helps members of his party get elected into office
-Chief Guardian of the Economy: Concerned with issues such as unemployment, high prices, taxes, business profits, and the general prosperity of the country. The president cannot control the economy but can help it run smoothly.
